Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture are among the ministries that got new Permanent Secretaries following a reshuffle by the State Government.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday appointed and swore in ten new Permanent Secretaries, a move aimed at recalibrating the civil service as the primary engine room of the State’s governance.

The ceremony, held at the State House in Alausa, brings the total number of Permanent Secretaries appointed under the Sanwo-Olu administration to 121.

Governor Sanwo-Olu immediately deployed the new appointees to various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) after administering the oath of office. He emphasized that their roles are “vital to the government’s effectiveness,” charging them to bring ingenuity to their responsibilities and create seamless frameworks for coordinating the administration’s development blueprint.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that the civil service must adapt to contemporary realities, noting that Lagos is becoming increasingly complex to administer.

He demanded a public service that is responsive, transparent, and technology-driven, urging the new Permanent Secretaries to lead institutional reforms from digital transformation to performance management, serving as the critical bridge between political direction and administrative execution.

The Governor reminded the appointees that their elevation was a testament to their years of hard work and leadership, calling for courage, creativity, and a strong sense of ethics in their duties.

He specifically urged them to foster a renewed spirit of collaboration with their political counterparts—the Commissioners and Special Advisers stressing that the power of government lies in the synergy between policy and administrative execution.

Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Bode Agoro, confirmed that the new appointees, whom he described as a fantastic set, were carefully selected from a pool of successful senior Directors who had passed rigorous computer-based tests and training programs. Their selection was necessitated by vacancies following statutory retirements.

In response on behalf of the new appointees, Dr. Olufemi Omololu, deployed to Health District VI, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their commitment to working harmoniously with the political heads of their respective MDAs to accelerate the administration’s agenda.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries include key deployments such as Mr. Babatunde Mohammed Onigbanjo to the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, and Engr. Oyenuga Olutokunbo Olayode to the Office of Infrastructure.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced the immediate redeployment of eight serving Permanent Secretaries to new MDAs to optimize performance across the government structure.

Dr. Aina Olugbemiga Ayoola was redeployed from the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment to Parastatals Monitoring Office; Mr. Osinaike Olusegun Olawale got reposted to Education District III from Education District IV; and Dr. Oyetola Idowu Olufunke was moved from Education District III to Education District I; and Mrs. Aina, Ololade Olasupo, from Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development to the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment
