…calls for investigation into attack

The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council has described as misleading and completely unsubstantiated the allegation by the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, that the APC attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters.
It would recalled that INEC headquarters in Odo-Otin Local Government Area was reportedly attacked on Sunday, with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) allegedly carted away.

Osun State, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough, professional and impartial investigation into Sunday’s attack on the INEC office.
Omowaiye urged the good people of Osun State to disregard the Speaker’s unfounded allegations, charging them to remain vigilant and continue to support democratic values as they prepare to freely elect a government that will truly serve their interests on August 15.
According to him, “The reckless allegation is nothing but another manifestation of the election fever that has enveloped the puppet Speaker and his paymasters in Osogbo as the August 15 governorship election approaches. It is a desperate attempt to divert public attention from the growing rejection of the failed administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke by the people of Osun State.”
“It is no longer news that the political momentum across the state clearly indicates that the people of Osun have rejected the Ademola Adeleke administration and have overwhelmingly pitched their tent with the governorship candidate of our great party, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), whose Seven-Point Prosperity Agenda has continued to inspire hope and confidence among the electorate.”
“Rather than accepting this obvious political reality in good faith and beginning preparations for the 2030 governorship election, Speaker Egbedun and his corruption-personified leaders have resorted to arming political thugs with guns and ammunition to attack INEC PVC collection centres across the state, hoping they can still salvage the crushing and inevitable defeat awaiting them at the polls.”
“According to eyewitnesses and security sources, those who invaded the INEC office in Odo-Otin on Sunday were known political thugs associated with the Speaker. It is therefore shameful, irresponsible and ungodly that the individual behind the criminal invasion is now making wild and unverified accusations against the APC in a desperate bid to evade justice and mislead the public.”
“The security agencies should beam their searchlight on the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly because of his disgusting history of violence and thuggery. Some months ago, traditional rulers from his hometown petitioned the Nigeria Police over what they described as threats made by Egbedun to assassinate one of them. According to the petition, an audio recording submitted by one of the traditional rulers captured the Speaker raining insults on the Kabiyesi and calling him unprintable names.”
“Such a desperate politician, with little political legacy in his hometown, could go to any length, including unleashing hoodlums to steal and divert voting materials, to sustain his hold on the local government at the polls.”
“Our party remains firmly committed to a peaceful, free, fair and credible electoral process in Osun State. We have absolute confidence in the overwhelming support of the people and have no reason whatsoever to undermine the democratic process through violence or intimidation,” he said.
