Federal lawmaker representing Lavun, Edati, and Mokwa Federal Constituency of Niger State, Dr Joshua Audu Gana, has said he remains undeterred by criticisms and is committed to delivering more developmental projects to his people.

Speaking in Minna during an interview with selected journalists over the weekend, Hon Gana said that despite “sentimental criticism” from a few quarters, his record of achievements stands above that of his predecessors.

He said: “We are all students of history. I doubt if there is any previous federal representative of Lavun, Edati, and Mokwa who has provided the number and quality of social amenities that we’ve achieved in just two years.”

Gana, who is the eldest son of former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Prof. Jerry Gana, noted that more than 20 capital projects have been executed across various wards in the constituency since he assumed office.

These include electricity supply, water projects, and youth empowerment schemes.

He disclosed that over 120 youths have been trained and empowered, while 100 women have received grinding and sewing machines to support their livelihoods.

“The projects are not in theory  they are on ground. We executed them in places where the needs are dire,” he stated.

He said communities in Lavun, Mokwa, and Edati have also benefited from agricultural and healthcare interventions, distribution of fertilisers, food relief items, and scholarship schemes.

Hon Gana urged youths to focus on supporting leaders with competence and verifiable performance, rather than aligning with baseless criticisms and political sentiments.

“We must stop dragging ourselves backwards with unnecessary sentiments. Support people with good track records and capacity,” he advised.

Gana named specific communities where hand pump boreholes were drilled and where classroom renovations were carried out.

These include Nnadefu, Dakogi, Dukun, Dogbe, Lalo, Edobaba, Mambwari, Shaku Gbako, Kpankuruzhi, and Basagi.

He also said that six classrooms have been fully built and equipped in Tswagba community, while more schools are currently under construction in underserved communities.

“We’ve spent over N15 million on healthcare needs, and we’re not slowing down,” he said.

The lawmaker appreciated the elders and youth of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the three LGAs for their unflinching support, promising not to let them down.

“I remain committed to the development of Lavun, Edati, and Mokwa. I thank our elders and the good people of the constituency for believing in me,” he said.
