An Ilorin resident, Moshood Kolobo of Temidire Community in the Oko-Olowo area, has petitioned the Area Court, Centre-Igboro, to dissolve his 17-year marriage to his wife, Hafsat Kolobo, citing a lack of affection and emotional connection.

Appearing before the court on Wednesday, Moshood declared that he was no longer interested in continuing the Islamic union, stating that the relationship had become devoid of love.

“I am no longer emotionally attached to my wife. I want the marriage dissolved,” he told the court.

In response, the defendant, Hafsat, appealed for more time to prepare her case.

“I was only informed this morning that I needed to appear in court. I had no prior knowledge of the details. This is coming as a complete shock after 17 years of marriage and five children. I am pleading for two weeks to respond properly,” she said.

Presiding Judge, Mr Toyin Aluko, granted the request and adjourned the matter until June 23 for further mention.
