The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening institutional collaboration with policy bodies, following a high-level meeting with the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

The engagement, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, brought together senior officials from both institutions to explore avenues for cooperation in advancing national security and governance.

Leading the NIPSS delegation, Ayo Omotayo highlighted the Institute’s role as Nigeria’s foremost policy think tank under the Presidency, emphasizing its mandate to drive strategic research, policy formulation, and leadership development.

He noted that closer collaboration with the Police would enhance policy-driven approaches to security challenges, while also strengthening capacity development and strategic leadership within the Force.

In his response, the IGP expressed appreciation for the visit, stressing that effective policing in today’s complex security environment requires strong partnerships with research and policy institutions.

Disu reiterated the Police leadership’s focus on intelligence-led policing, continuous capacity building, and ongoing reforms aimed at improving professionalism and service delivery.

He assured the delegation of the Force’s readiness to partner with NIPSS in advancing research initiatives, policy support frameworks, and leadership training programmes that would contribute to a more secure and well-governed Nigeria.

The meeting also featured the presence of senior figures including Leye Oyebade and Garba Malumfashi, underscoring the strategic importance of the engagement.

The Nigeria Police Force noted that the collaboration aligns with its broader vision of fostering institutional partnerships to strengthen internal security architecture and enhance public trust in law enforcement.
