The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, officially decorated 30 recently promoted senior officers to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP) at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in Abuja.
The ceremony followed the broader elevation of 84 senior officers, which included the promotion of 54 Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners of Police.
During the event, IGP Disu stated that the promotions represent a strategic investment in leadership and a formal recognition of capacity, discipline, and merit aimed at building a responsive and accountable Police Force.
He charged the newly decorated leaders to exemplify high standards, mandating a strict zero-tolerance policy for corruption, indiscipline, and dereliction of duty within their respective commands.
Reaffirming his commitment to people-oriented policing, the IGP emphasized that community engagement and respect for human rights are non-negotiable operational principles.
The IGP further announced that all the newly promoted AIGs will participate in a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat beginning on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
The retreat, organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is intended to instill modern policing ethics and transformational leadership skills within the senior ranks of the Force.
