Nigerian disc jockey and media personality DJ Cuppy is once again at the center of online conversation after a resurfaced interview revealed her evolving views on relationships.
In the viral clip from an interview, Cuppy candidly reflected on her dating experiences, stating that after exploring relationships with different types of men, including models, footballers, and even a bus driver, she now desires something far simpler.
“I’ve dated all kinds of men, but now all I want is a simple 9–5 man with no social media,” she said, adding that she once paid £400 to join an exclusive dating app, where she met the bus driver.
The statement has triggered a wave of mixed reactions across social media, with many users pointing out the irony of a highly visible public figure seeking a partner who stays completely offline. Others, however, applauded the shift, interpreting it as a move toward authenticity and emotional stability rather than status-driven relationships.
Some commentators questioned the practicality of her expectations, suggesting that lifestyle differences could create challenges in the long run. Popular online critic Daniel Regha, for instance, argued that while the idea may sound appealing, it might not be realistic given evolving career paths and personal ambitions.
Still, a large segment of users embraced her stance, framing it as a refreshing endorsement of “ordinary” men often overlooked in modern dating culture. Supporters highlighted her emphasis on humor, simplicity, and genuine connection over wealth or social clout.
Cuppy’s love life has remained a subject of public interest, particularly following her past engagement to British YouTuber Ryan Taylor, which ended in 2023.
