Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has devlared that he has no obligation to reveal details of his discussion with the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
Wike recently visited the APC Natonal Chairman with speculations of his visit being related to political calculations in the Rivers State APC.
Speaking during an inspection of road projects in Karu, Apo-Karshi, and Kubwa on Wednesday, the Minister declared that he does not practice politics of enmity and maintains that he owes no one a public account of his private associations.
Wike characterized the visit as a simple personal gesture between two former ministerial colleagues, questioning why political actors should avoid one another to satisfy public speculation.
He clarified that the meeting was reciprocal, noting that the APC chairman had previously made several attempts to visit him at his office.
The Minister remained unapologetic about the lack of a formal briefing following the encounter, asserting that his private life and social interactions are not subject to public disclosure.
Despite his continued membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while serving in the current administration, Wike argued that freedom of association transcends party lines.
He criticized the tendency to read political conspiracies into ordinary human interactions and emphasized that his primary focus is satisfying his appointor and delivering tangible infrastructure results for FCT residents.
According to the Minister, the quality of his work and the welfare of the people carry far more weight than managing the perceptions of critics.
