How JAMB resolved over 5,000 candidates complaints in five days

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has resolved more than 5,000 pending candidates’ complaints within five days following a direct, hands-on intervention by its newly appointed Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina.

The swift resolution of the backlog was achieved through an unconventional administrative move by Prof. Aina, who temporarily relocated his operational desk directly to the board’s Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit.

By setting up his workstation at the frontline, the Registrar gained direct insight into the daily technical, administrative, and operational hurdles confronting candidates seeking entry into higher institutions.

According to a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the initiative aligns with “Service at Heart,” the second pillar of the Registrar’s core policy agenda aimed at making customer service responsive and accountable.

The exercise systematically targeted several recurring technical bottlenecks. Desk officers addressed profile code generation failures affecting candidates who no longer had access to the phone numbers used during initial registration.
The team also cleared genuine biometric verification failures recorded during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration and main exams.

Further interventions tackled operational challenges within the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Officials processed requests for candidates dealing with lost SIM cards, handled conversions from Direct Entry to UTME, and rectified National Matriculation List omissions affecting recent graduates.

The week-long drive also resolved payment discrepancies, assigned alternative examination centers for misplaced venues, rectified invalid e-PINs, fixed document upload errors, and approved pending requests for data corrections involving names, dates of birth, states, and local governments of origin.
