A housewife in Asaba has been arrested alongside two accomplices for allegedly faking her own kidnap and collecting a ransom of N3 million.

According to the Delta State Police Command, the woman conspired with two others to carry out the plan, which involved staging an abduction and demanding payment from unsuspecting individuals. The police launched an investigation after receiving a report of a kidnapping in the Bonsaac area of Asaba on July 21.

Following coordinated intelligence operations, law enforcement officers arrested one suspect at Koka Roundabout and another off DLA Road. Further interrogation revealed that the so-called victim had orchestrated the incident in collaboration with the arrested suspects.

The woman reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that she collected the ransom and kept N2.5 million for herself, giving the remaining N500,000 to her accomplices.

The police confirmed that all three suspects are now in custody, and further investigations are underway to conclude the case.
