A wave of anger swept through Oke-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Wednesday, as hundreds of women took to the streets in protest over what they described as the relentless killing of their people by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

In a heart-wrenching display of grief and desperation, many of the women—mostly elderly—marched half-naked through the affected areas, expressing their sorrow and frustration over the violence that has continued to plague their community.

Videos circulating on social media show the women moving solemnly through the town, chanting in their local dialect, with sticks and leaves in hand. Their songs told a story of pain, fear, and a community at breaking point, as they lamented the frequent kidnappings, brutal attacks, and loss of lives.

The protest, marked by raw emotion and a plea for urgent intervention, served as a powerful call to action for the authorities. The women implored the government and security agencies to take immediate steps to put an end to the persistent violence that has left many in the community living in fear.

Their demonstration follows a recent incident in March along the Ayere-Kabba Expressway, where armed assailants abducted three individuals and left four others wounded. That attack added to a growing list of violent episodes, intensifying the community’s demand for justice and protection.
