A 37 year old farmer, Odetayo Kayode, has reported the alleged abduction of his wife and daughter by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Ogun State.
According to reports the incident was reported at about 12 noon on March 20, 2026, at the Redeem Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State.
The complainant, a resident of Seriki Street, Deeper Life area along the Oloke Express Road, stated that his wife, Mrs. Opeyemi Odetayo, born on October 12, 1992, and his daughter, Iremide Odetayo, born on January 19, 2021, were abducted by the suspected herdsmen after an attack on his family.
Kayode explained that he owns a large farm around the Oloke area of Ogun State and is well known in the community as a local farmer alleging that on the night before the incident, some herdsmen invaded his farmland with their cattle and destroyed a large portion of his crops, causing him significant financial losses and emotional distress.
The farmer further stated that he confronted the herdsmen over the destruction of his farm, leading to an argument and physical altercation during which one of the herdsmen allegedly recognised him.
According to the report, the suspected herdsmen allegedly returned in the early hours of the following day and attacked him and his family while he was heading to the farm.
During the attack, Kayode said he sustained injuries, while his wife and daughter were abducted and taken to an unknown destination with Kayode reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital where he received medical treatment.
However investigation are still ongoing to apprend the kidnappers and the police report indicated that the suspects were still at large as of the time the case was documented with the has since been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
