Heirs Energies, Dangote refinery bag top honors at NewsDirect Awards

The Dangote Refinery Plc, Africa’s largest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train refining facility and Heirs Energies Limited, described as arguably Africa’s largest indigenous-owned energy company have been honoured for their exemplary strides.

The two companies were honoured recently at the 15th anniversary and awards ceremony of NewsDirect held in Lagos recently.

Heirs Energies was honoured as Energy Company of the Year while the Dangote Refinery bagged the Company of the Year award.

Backed by a seasoned board and management team with strong regional and global expertise, Heirs Energies has continued to demonstrate leadership in Africa’s evolving energy landscape. It is also the sole operator of OML 17, one of Nigeria’s most strategic oil and gas assets in the Niger Delta, positioning the company as a key driver of energy stability, security and upstream development across the country. 

On the other hand, the Dangote Refinery which spans about 2,635 hectares six times the size of Victoria Island was recognised for its bold contribution to reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported petroleum products.

Guests at the event applauded the milestone, acknowledging the project’s transformative impact on the nation’s energy sector. 

Receiving the award on behalf of Dangote Refinery, Mr Esan Sunday, Head of Media and Branding Communications at Dangote Industries Ltd expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians for their support since the project’s inception.

The company also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the naira-for-crude exchange policy has helped stabilise the cost of PMS and diesel in the country. 

The Dangote Refinery also praised NewsDirect for its consistent support over the years and dedicated the award to the Nigerian public, reiterating that the refinery’s progress would not have been possible without nationwide backing.
