Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 governorship candidate, has commended the peaceful conduct of the presidential primaries across the state.

Hamzat spoke with newsmen after participating in the APC presidential primary election conducted through the Option A4 voting system at his Ward A4, situated at AUD Primary School, Oke-Balogun, Epe on Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deputy governor with his wife, Oluremi Hamzat, arrived at his voting centre at 12.45p.m.

According to him, the voting system reflects the party’s commitment to transparency and open internal democracy.

He explained that the process followed the same pattern used for other party primaries in the state and across the country.

“The process is the same like the assembly, and others. It’s what we all refer to in Nigeria as Option A4.

“Under the system, voters line up behind the poster or banner of their preferred aspirant. Two aspirants contested in the presidential primary at Ward A4, President Bola Tinubu and one Mr Stanley Osifo.

“In this case, here in Ward A4, everybody voted for the president, nobody voted for Stanley Osifo,” he said.

The deputy governor said the turnout was impressive, with about 8,000 registered voters participating in the ward.

“We have about 8,000 votes in the first place. So we’ve all done our own, we’ve been counted,” Hamzat said.

He commended the conduct of party members and officials, noting that the exercise was peaceful across the state based on reports he had received.

Hazmat added that accreditation was conducted early, followed by counting in the presence of party members.

“You can see people came here very early, so the accreditation was done, and then we waited to be counted.

“The people were counted and the results will be released later, but you can see that everybody here voted for the president. While for the other aspirant, it is zero,” he said.

Newsmen reports that the APC presidential primary was held simultaneously in wards across Lagos State as part of the party’s process to select its candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Members in Epe Division trooped out en-masse at the ward to endorse Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.

One of the party member, Alhaja Sidikat Adekunle, described the process as fair and transparent, saying party members had freely chosen Tinubu as their preferred candidate.

In his remarks, Mr Olasupo Moshood-Giwa, representative of Dr Obafemi Hamzat Youth Ambassador in Lagos State, said they came to show their solidarity for the President in Epe.

According to him, they believe in Tinubu administration.
