The Chairman of Guri Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Dan Barde, has initiated a series of significant development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and quality of life for residents across the council’s eleven political wards.
In a press briefing from his office, the Chairman announced that the council has awarded a contract for the construction of a crucial road network linking Dawa village to Marma, a border town in neighboring Kirikasamma Local Government Area.
He emphasized that the new road will facilitate easier movement, boost economic activities, and strengthen community ties.
Speaking to a delegation of Dawa elders and representatives from the contracting firm, Dan Barde urged the contractors to ensure a high-quality, timely completion to serve the many residents who depend on the route daily.
In addition to the road project, the chairman confirmed the construction of five new daily prayer mosques in Dawa village, Zugo New Hamlet, Shukura Kofar Yamma, Nayinawa Kofar Malam and Tsangayar Kukaguri.
The Council has also procured essential fumigation equipment and herbicides to tackle overgrown grasses in schools and cemeteries.
This initiative covers GGSJSS Guri, Government Day Secondary School Guri, and all primary schools in the Adiyani and Lafiya communities.
The Chairman explained that the fumigation of graveyards is a key part of ensuring public safety by clearing overgrowth that could harbor dangerous reptiles and other animals.
Concluding his statement, Chairman Dan Barde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to public service.
“Our duty is to serve the people with honesty and dedication,” he stated.
“As long as I remain chairman, Guri Local Government will continue to witness development that promotes dignity, security, and a better quality of life for all.” He concluded.
