Former students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), Ondo State, have raised an alarm over the prolonged withholding of their academic certificates, claiming the delay has paralyzed their career prospects and academic progression years after graduation.
The affected alumni, who completed their studies between 2014 and 2021, reported that repeated attempts to retrieve their credentials have proven futile, leaving them stuck in a professional limbo.
One such graduate, Adeniyi Fadeyi, expressed deep frustration after fulfilling all institutional clearance requirements without result.
Fadeyi noted that during a visit to the campus in April 2025, officials informed him that the institution lacked the specific paper required to print the documents.
Despite the passage of time, he remains without his certificate. Similarly, Mrs. Aina Waremi detailed the financial and emotional toll of the crisis, recounting multiple fruitless journeys from Lagos to Owo.
She lamented the exhausting and costly cycle of excuses provided by the school and called upon the Ondo State Government to intervene in the administrative quagmire.
In response to the growing outcry, the polytechnic’s Public Relations and Protocol Officer, Olumide Olugosi, offered an apology for the inconvenience caused to the former students.
Representing the school management, Olugosi assured the graduates that the certificates would be issued as soon as the necessary materials arrived, while appealing for further patience from the aggrieved alumn
