18 Dec 2025

At the sixth Lagos Real Estate Marketplace Conference, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the state’s commitment to transforming Lagos into a resilient megacity while assuring investors that their assets remain protected.

The event, themed “Shaping the Future of Lagos Megacity: Infrastructure, Innovation and Affordable Housing,” drew over 2,000 participants, including international investors from Asia, the Middle East, and America.

The Governor emphasized that housing is central to the state’s development agenda and is inextricably linked to transportation, energy, and climate resilience.

He highlighted that the state is shifting its role to that of an enabler and regulator, seeking more private capital to bridge the affordable housing gap.

To support this, the government is aligning transport investments, such as rail and road corridors, with housing growth zones.

Special Adviser on Housing, Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, noted that the conference has already influenced policy, specifically citing the New Tenancy Bill currently under review by the House of Assembly.

The Keynote speaker Dr. Muiz Banire, SAN, further urged the government to maintain fidelity to the state’s master plan and strengthen environmental laws to ensure long-term urban habitability.

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded by inviting global partners to invest in Lagos, citing the state’s strengthened security architecture and commitment to the rule of law.
