Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has issued a stern warning to political actors to shun violence as the state prepares for the June 20, 2026, governorship election.
Speaking at the unveiling of a new palace edifice in Ayede-Ekiti, the Governor represented by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye declared that no election is worth the blood of any innocent Ekiti citizen.
He urged traditional rulers to leverage their influence to maintain peace and prevent hoodlums from using electioneering as a cover for terror.
The event, which honored the Attah of Ayede-Ekiti, Oba Abdulmumini Adebayo Orisagbemi, also featured remarks from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
The Ooni commended Governor Oyebanji for his humility and harmonious relationship with the traditional institution.
Oba Orisagbemi expressed deep gratitude to the Governor for intervening to complete the palace project after it had stalled for five years due to financial constraints, describing the edifice as a symbol of the kingdom’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
