…says Kogi becoming more attractive to investors

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Thursday commissioned the Lokoja branch of Premium Trust Bank, marking the bank’s formal entry into the state’s financial landscape and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating a thriving business environment.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ododo commended Premium Trust Bank for its confidence in Kogi’s economy, describing the establishment of the new branch as a testament to the state’s growing investment appeal under his leadership.
“It gives me great joy to commission the Lokoja Branch of Premium Trust Bank, a financial institution that has distinguished itself through integrity, innovation, and excellent corporate governance,” he said.
“Kogi State continues to provide a business-friendly environment that attracts credible, high-value investors.”
He acknowledged the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Trust Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, CON, FCIB, for fulfilling his promise to open the branch in Lokoja.
The governor added that the new bank would create jobs, boost financial inclusion, and expand access to credit for the people of Kogi State.
He said the state’s vast economic potential, noting that Kogi is home to Africa’s largest cement factory, abundant mineral resources, and fertile agricultural land.
He called on the bank to partner with his administration in driving industrialization, agricultural transformation, and small business development through strategic financial support.
“Our administration is opening up industrial parks, revitalizing farm settlements, and supporting agro-processing clusters,” Ododo said. “These initiatives require strong financial backing, and banks like Premium Trust can play a pivotal role in providing the needed capital and expertise.”
He also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing bold financial sector reforms that have strengthened Nigerian banks and restored depositor confidence.
While assuring investors of continued safety and stability in Kogi State, Governor Ododo reiterated his government’s readiness to partner with financial institutions to promote inclusive growth.
