The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the commissioning of the newly built Ibom Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility, scheduled for Wednesday, Apr. 29, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at Ekpri Nsukara, Uyo.

The facility, developed under the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agribusiness Unit of the Governor’s Office, is a strategic initiative of the administration of Gov. Umo Eno, aimed at accelerating mechanised agriculture and boosting commercial farming across the state.

The project forms a key component of the Agricultural Revolution mantra of the ARISE Agenda, which also encompasses the Food Security Programme, farmers’ grants, the Ibom Model Farm, and the Tree Crop Revolution, among other initiatives.

Positioned as a central hub for agricultural mechanisation, the facility will provide equipment leasing for land preparation services and technical support to farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.

It is equipped with critical infrastructure, including administrative buildings, a fully fitted maintenance workshop, tractor sheds, a fleet of tractors with accompanying implements, and 2 low-bed trailers to ensure efficient deployment and operations.

The facility is expected to bridge the mechanisation gap, improve agricultural productivity, enhance value chain activities, and generate employment opportunities, thereby strengthening the state’s drive toward food security, economic diversification, and sustainable growth.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has invited stakeholders, members of the farming community, and the general public to witness the commissioning, describing the facility as a demonstration of its commitment to transforming the agricultural sector and improving livelihoods.
