Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke’s recent decision to appoint Ms. Oluwatosin Adejumo, a street puff-puff seller, as a chef in the Government House has been described as a testament to his vision for inclusive governance and the dividends of democracy.

On August 29, Governor Adeleke surprised a puff-puff seller during a rally in Osogbo by buying all her snacks with N50,000 and offering her employment as a chef at the Government House.

He announced the appointment on via his official X handle, describing it as a promise fulfilled.

“A few days ago, I met Ms. Oluwatosin Adejumo during the rally where labour unions and other groups declared their support for my re-election.

“Today, I have kept that promise by officially presenting her appointment letter as one of our Government House chefs.

“Beyond this, I have also approved a scholarship for her up to the Master’s level, should she wish to further her education,” he said.

Many social media users praised Governor Adeleke for connecting with ordinary citizens and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.

According to Abiola Kazeem, the Governor has native intelligence and knows how to reach grassroots people. “Grace has found a puff-puff seller and she will never forget today in her entire life. We, the people of Osun, are voting for you again.”

Mike Osagie Akhilor described it as a touching gesture, saying: “Putting smiles on the face of an ordinary citizen and giving her a better opportunity is commendable. However, beyond individual acts of kindness, what the people truly need are consistent policies that will uplift many lives, not just one lucky person.”

Adepoju Adelami added that “consistency, hard work, positioning, and prayers paved the way for the lady, making her helper find her. Congratulations, Sister. Please prove yourself and don’t forget God whom you serve in your new appointment.”

Another user noted: “Wow! Congratulations to her. And God bless His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State. This should be the relationship that ought to exist between those who serve as leaders and the led.”
