Mr.Alfred Attajiri, an aspirant for the House of Representatives under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the results announced for the primary election in Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency.
In a statement on Saturday in Gombe, Attajiri, who described the announcement of the results as “a direct assault on democracy, insisted that no election was held.
According to him, Mr. Mohammed Fawu, a former commissioner in Gombe State, announced results for an election that never took place.
The aspirant alledged that there were videos, pictures, eyewitness accounts, and reports from across Balanga and Billiri showing that no proper election was conducted before the results were declared.
Attajiri said the action was unfair to party members and delegates and could damage the image and credibility of the APC.
“The people of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency are deeply disappointed and losing confidence in the party structure,” he said.
Attajiri stated that members of the constituency had remained loyal and committed to the APC over the years, but warned that allowing injustice within the party could make Nigerians lose trust in future elections.
He called on President Bola Tinubu and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to urgently intervene and ensure justice was done.
“Our struggle is for justice, not chaos,” Attajiri added.
He also urged supporters, youths, women, elders, and residents of Balanga and Billiri to remain peaceful and avoid violence in spite of the prevailng situation.
