First HoldCo strengthens governance with fresh board appointments across non-banking businesses

First HoldCo Plc has unveiled a new round of board appointments across its non-commercial banking subsidiaries, a move aimed at reinforcing corporate governance, enhancing oversight, and positioning the Group for sustainable growth.

The appointments, which received regulatory approvals from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), bring experienced industry professionals into key leadership roles, aligning the Group with international best practices in corporate governance.

According to the Group, the appointments reflect a deliberate strategy by the Board to make its non-banking subsidiaries future-ready through stronger leadership, improved product offerings, and enhanced service delivery.

At First Asset Management Limited, Ebikabo Williams has been appointed Chairman of the Board. 

She brings extensive experience across banking, capital markets, and consulting, and will be joined by Usman Dantata Jr., Binta Max Gbinije, and Alero Mobola Adollo. 

The strengthened board is expected to further consolidate the company’s standing in Nigeria’s asset and wealth management sector.

FirstCap Limited has also named Yewande Amusan as Chairman. A seasoned finance professional with experience in both public and private sectors, Amusan will serve alongside Ahmed Indimi, Irene Akpofure, Adenike Kuti, and Zeal Akaraiwe.

First Securities Brokers Limited, recently ranked among the top performers in the Nigerian Exchange Limited’s Brokers Performance Report by trading volume and transaction value, has appointed John Akpeki as Chairman. 

He is expected to leverage his global marketing and networking expertise, supported by Omolara Adeyemi, Susan Younis, and Kemi Andu-Alausa.

Similarly, First Trustees Limited has strengthened its governance framework with the appointment of John Lee as Chairman.

Lee has over 40 years of experience in global financial services, particularly in Corporate and Institutional Banking and Wealth Management across Africa. 

Other board members include Abiola Alabi, Adebisi Sola-Adeyemi, and Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu.

For its insurance subsidiary, First Insurance Brokers, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, Akinola Phillips has been appointed Chairman. He will be joined by Ije Onejeme, Folukemi Akinmeji, and Mojisola Cardozo.
