At least eight shops were destroyed when fire engulfed a shopping complex next to the Sango Police Division in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Dr. Moroof Akinwande, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reform and Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
He stated that the fire started at exactly 12:43 p.m. in shops owned by one Mr. Akanni.
Firefighters, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, were promptly deployed to the scene and, with support from the Federal Fire Service Ibadan Command, managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other shops.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
