At least 744 repentant terrorists are set to be reintegrated into society after graduating from the Federal Government’s De-radicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) program under Operation Safe Corridor.

The graduation ceremony took place on Thursday in Gombe with several stakeholders in attendance.

A breakdown of the graduates indicates that the majority, 597 individuals are from Borno State, with others hailing from various states including Yobe, Adamawa, and Kano.

The group also includes foreign nationals from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, and the Niger Republic.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, represented by Rear Admiral Kabiru Tanimu, stated that the initiative is not a reward for violence but a strategic tool to curb extremism and address the human dimensions of the insurgency.

The Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor, Brig. Gen. Yusuf Ali, noted that while military operations continue to neutralize threats, lasting peace requires a structured pathway for those willing to renounce violence.

In his remarks, the Gombe State Governor Muhammad Yahaya urged the graduates to embrace this second chance and contribute positively to their communities, warning them not to betray the trust placed in them by the nation.
