The Federal Government has sanctioned the release of ₦48 billion to revitalize and enhance 12 Faculties of Engineering and Technology across Nigerian universities.

This targeted investment aims to modernize technical education in both specialized Federal Universities of Technology and selected conventional institutions.

The beneficiary schools were selected to ensure balanced representation across the six geopolitical zones, encompassing a mix of federal and state-owned entities.

Notable institutions among the twelve include the Federal University of Technology, Minna; the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO); the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); Delta State University, Abraka; and the Nigerian Army University, Biu.

During the inauguration of the Ministerial Monitoring, Evaluation, and Implementation Committee on TETFund High Impact Intervention Projects in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized the government’s focus on oversight.

He stated that the committee’s primary role is to ensure absolute transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to project timelines throughout the execution of these interventions.

This funding surge comes at a critical time for Nigeria’s educational infrastructure, as the government seeks to align academic output with national industrial needs.

By upgrading laboratories, workshops, and research facilities, the initiative is expected to bolster the capacity of these institutions to produce world-class engineers. Dr. Alausa reiterated that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) would continue to play a pivotal role in driving these high-impact projects to completion.
