The Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Lagos, has commenced an investigation into the alleged assault, sexual harassment and abduction of members of a family in the Isawo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The complainant, Boluwatife Temitope Ogunlaja, 26, reported an alleged case of assault, harassment and abduction involving her father, Olalekan Ogunlaja (10/10/1973); mother, Taobat Abolanle Ogunlaja (22/05/1977); brother, Olabisi Ogunlaja (08/03/1994); and twin sisters, Taiwo Ogunlaja and Kehinde Ogunlaja (both born 15/01/2011), alleging that armed men suspected to be Fulani attackers invaded her family’s residence at No. 8, Dayo Oluyemi Street, Olutoye Bus Stop, Isawo Road, Asolo, Ikorodu, on the night of July 14, 2026.
According to the petition made available to Nigerian Newsdirect, the attackers allegedly assaulted members of the household, inflicted injuries on them, sexually harassed the complainant and abducted some of her family members.
Boluwatife claimed the incident was connected to an earlier report she made to the police after two men allegedly visited her mother’s Point of Sale (POS) shop with a request to deposit N20 million.
She said she became suspicious because of the unusually large cash transaction and advised the men to return later before notifying her mother, who subsequently reported the matter to the nearest police station.
According to her, police officers responded promptly and arrested the two suspects.
She alleged that before their arrest, the men threatened to retaliate against her for reporting them to the authorities.
The complainant further alleged that about two days later, armed men returned to the neighbourhood at about midnight, firing gunshots and searching for her.
She claimed the attackers forced their way into the family house, assaulted her parents, siblings and other residents before taking her into a room where she was allegedly sexually harassed.
Boluwatife said she eventually escaped through a window and fled to the residence of her uncle in Ketu.
She added that she later received information that her parents and siblings had been abducted after the attackers failed to find her, while several other residents of the area were reportedly injured or abducted during the attack.
She said the incident had left her traumatised and fearful for her safety.
The petition stated that the matter has been reported to the FCID, while investigators have visited the scene as part of ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
However police sources confirmed that the case has been reported and that the preliminary investigation has commenced.
Officers were said to have visited the scene following the complaint, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the attack.
Although no arrest had been made, while the whereabouts of the abducted victim remained unknown.
The police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while the allegations contained in the petition remain under investigation.
