Authorities have confirmed the death of Alhaji Fatai Pedro, an septuagenarian, who was reportedly shot dead at Obada-Oko community in Ogun State.

Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased was violently attacked at his son’s residence at approximately 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, 30 November 2025.

According to security sources, a group believed to be associated with the Aye Confraternity allegedly stormed the home of Mr. Nureni Temitope Pedro, son of the deceased, in what is suspected to have been a targeted attack on the family.

Sources suggest that the attackers intended to harm Mr. Nureni and other family members. While Mr. Nureni managed to escape, tragically, his father, Alhaji Fatai Pedro, was shot and reportedly died before emergency responders and medical personnel could arrive at the scene.

It was further revealed that this is not the first time the family has been targeted. In a previous incident, Mr. Nureni’s wife and son were kidnapped, and his wife was molested multiple times, an ordeal believed to be part of a series of intimidation attempts allegedly linked to the same criminal network.

A security source confirmed that authorities have launched a full-scale manhunt for the assailants. As of this report, no arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing.

Police have appealed to members of the public with useful information to come forward to assist in the investigation, assuring that all tips will be treated with confidentiality.
