A former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Recall that on October 7, 2025, Uche Nnaji resigned from his position as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology following allegations of certificate forgery.
Nnaji clinched the ticket during the party’s primary election held at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu.
He secured a decisive victory by polling 1,022 votes to defeat his closest rival, who garnered 145 votes.
In his acceptance speech, the former minister expressed gratitude to the delegates, party leaders, and stakeholders for their overwhelming support and confidence in his leadership capacity.
He promised to run an inclusive campaign and build on the developmental strides of the state to ensure sustainable economic growth and infrastructural transformation.
Nnaji also extended an olive branch to other contestants, urging them to join hands with him to secure victory for the PDP in the general election and deliver democratic dividends to the people of Enugu State.
