The Emir of Zuru, Muhammad Sanusi-Mika’ilu, Sami Gomo III, says Gov. Nasir Idris, has performed well in improving the socio-economic well-being of the people of the state.

Sanusi-Mika’ilu, who is also the Chairman of Zuru Emirate Council, stated this while playing host to Kebbi Media Team at his palace in Zuru on Saturday.

The newsmen report that the media team comprising all the governor’s media aides was headed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK.

Newsmen also report that the media team visited other District Heads within the Zuru Emirate.

Addressing the team in his palace, the emir said: “Without fear of contradiction, our amiable governor, Dr Nasir Idris has performed creditably well in improving the socio-economic well-being of the people of the state.”

“It is no longer a secret that Gov. Idris has saved lives and restored economic fortunes, particularly through the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Koko-Zuru federal road.”

The emir also highlighted other achievements, including the establishment of Mega Secondary Schools in each of the four emirates with additional subjects and skills acquisition programmes.

He also cited the rehabilitation and construction of new healthcare institutions across the four local government areas of the emirate.

Sanusi-Mika’ilu commended the governor’s foresight in initiating the tour to showcase government projects, while challenging the media team not only to sustain the tempo but also to improve on it.

He said: “Although we are leaders to all, regardless of political affiliation, we will remain apolitical. But we must appreciate and commend whoever attends to the yearnings and aspirations of our people.”

In a similar vein, the Chief of Wasagu, Alhaji Mukhtar Muhammad-Musa, at his palace, commended Gov. Idris for his commitment to tackling armed banditry.

He, however, called for periodic review of security strategies to ensure sustainable operations.

Also, at his palace, the Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleiman Mika’ilu-Sami, appreciated the state government’s empowerment programmes, saying they have direct and positive impacts on the well-being of the people.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture alongside Special Advisers, said the essence of the tour was to seek the support of media organisations in the country, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders in changing the narrative of Kebbi’s development.
