Embrace innovation, integrity — Sanwo-Olu charges Babcock students

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged graduating students of Babcock University to embrace innovation, integrity and excellence as they prepare to contribute to national development.

The governor gave the charge while delivering the convocation lecture at the university’s 2026 undergraduate convocation ceremony held at the University Stadium, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, on Sunday.

Sanwo-Olu urged the graduates to remain resilient in the face of challenges and position themselves as solution providers capable of driving economic growth and societal transformation.

He stressed the importance of leadership anchored on character, innovation and service, noting that Nigeria’s future depends on young people who are prepared to create value and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

The governor also commended the management of Babcock University for its commitment to academic excellence, research and the holistic development of students, describing the institution as one of Nigeria’s leading private universities.

The event was attended by the President and Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Ojewole; Chancellor of the university, Prof. Bassey Udoh; Associate Vice-President and Director of Research, Innovation and International Cooperation Division, Prof. Foluso Ojewole; Director of Education and Research, West-Central Africa Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Prof. Yetunde Alozie; wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat; members of the university’s Governing Council, members of the academic community, graduating students and their families.

Highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Miss Oluwapelumi Amosu as the Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2026 academic session.

The convocation celebrated the graduation of students across various disciplines, with university authorities urging the new graduates to uphold the values of integrity, excellence and service as ambassadors of the institution.
