President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tasked Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to eliminate gas flaring and channel the previously wasted resource into economic benefits for Nigerians.

Tinubu gave the charge on Wednesday at the State House, Abuja, while receiving the NLNG Board, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adeleye Falade.

The President said Nigeria must look beyond earning revenue from international markets and prioritize the domestic utilization of its gas reserves.

He described gas flaring as a potential environmental liability that must be transformed into an economically beneficial asset for domestic consumers.

“My major concern is domestic utilization, where you must eliminate flaring and convert a potential environmental liability into what could be strategically and economically beneficial to consumers across the country,” Tinubu stated.

The President also urged the company to ensure citizens feel the impact of Nigeria’s gas wealth directly through affordable pricing and steady domestic supply.

While commending NLNG for enhancing its operational capacity and generating significant export returns, Tinubu stressed that meeting national energy demands remains vital.

He pledged continued Federal Government support and targeted incentives to help the company expand capacity and deepen its contribution to the economy.
