The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo, has distributed registration forms for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination and English Language textbooks to selected students in the council area as part of efforts to promote education and empower young people.
The presentation ceremony took place at the council secretariat in Ejigbo and was attended by members of the legislative council, management staff of the LCDA, education stakeholders, parents, and the beneficiary students.
Speaking during the event, Taiwo described education as a powerful tool for personal development, community growth and national progress, stressing that any society aspiring for prosperity must invest heavily in quality education.
According to him, the initiative was introduced to assist talented students who may face financial and academic challenges in their pursuit of higher education.
He explained that providing the registration forms for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and English Language textbooks would help the beneficiaries adequately prepare for the upcoming examination.
The council chairman noted that English Language remains a compulsory subject in the UTME and a key requirement for admission into tertiary institutions, adding that the textbooks would serve as essential study materials to strengthen the students’ preparation and improve their chances of success.
Taiwo also highlighted ongoing efforts by his administration to improve learning infrastructure within the council.
He disclosed that renovation works have commenced at Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Nursery and Primary School 1 & 2 located on Dauda Ilo Street in Ilamoshe Ward, while construction is ongoing at Morning Star Nursery and Primary School in Ifoshi and Aigbaka Ward.
He said the projects are aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment for pupils across the council area.
The chairman urged the beneficiaries to remain focused and disciplined in their studies, noting that the opportunity given to them comes with the responsibility to excel and make their families and community proud.
To further encourage academic excellence, Taiwo announced that the student who records the highest score in the UTME among the beneficiaries would receive full sponsorship through the university.
The event ended with the formal presentation of the JAMB registration forms and English Language textbooks to the students, reinforcing the council’s commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of young people in Ejigbo.
