The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, has felicitated Muslim faithful across the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid el- Maulud celebration.
Ojelabi, in a statement, particularly congratulated Muslim party members, leaders and supporters , urging them to uphold the virtues exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He said the occasion provided an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the life, teachings and exemplary virtues of the Holy Prophet.
According to him, the Prophet’s message continues to inspire millions of people across the world.
He said the Prophet’s emphasis on peace, compassion, justice, humility, tolerance, honesty and respect for others remained profoundly relevant to the pursuit of a harmonious and prosperous society.
“As Muslims commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet, I urge the Muslim community to draw renewed inspiration from these enduring values.
“I also urge them to continue to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and understanding among people of diverse faiths, backgrounds and persuasions,” he said.
According to him, Lagos has always been a model of diversity, inclusiveness and peaceful religious coexistence.
“This strength must continue to be nurtured through dialogue, tolerance and a shared commitment to the development of our communities and the progress of our dear state.
“I commend our Muslim brothers and sisters for their valuable contributions to the growth of our communities and the development of Lagos State.
“I also commend their active participation in the affairs of our great party,” he said.
The APC chairman encouraged residents to remain committed to the ideals of unity, service, compassion and collective responsibility.
He said such commitment was necessary for the attainment of a more prosperous and inclusive Lagos.
Ojelabi also urged Muslims and other residents to continue working together for the development of the state and the wellbeing of its people.
“At this auspicious occasion, I pray that Almighty Allah accepts our prayers and acts of worship, grants us peace in our homes, strengthens our families and blesses our communities.
“I pray that Allah continues to guide our leaders with wisdom and sound judgment.
“May the blessings of this Eid Maulud bring renewed hope, peace and prosperity to all Muslim faithful and to Lagos State,,” he said.
