The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In an Eid-el-Kabir message issued on Tuesday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the governor called on Muslims to continue on the path of spirituality, peaceful coexistence and unwavering faith in God saying the celebration of Eid al-Adha remains a symbolic event in human history because of the lessons of patience, perseverance and obedience demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
He urged the muslims to embrace peace, unity and sacrifice for national development.
According to the governor, the Islamic festival serves as a reminder that great rewards come with faith, persistence in prayers and steadfast belief, especially during difficult times.
“On behalf of my family and the Government of Lagos State, I join millions of people around the world to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos State and Nigeria a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” he said.
He noted that the festival also highlights the importance of sacrifice, not only for spiritual fulfilment but also for societal growth and national progress.
Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians to emulate the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim by avoiding actions capable of threatening the unity, peace and stability of the country.
The governor further appealed to citizens to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu in its efforts to build a prosperous and inclusive nation stressing that sustaining Nigeria’s growth and development remains a collective responsibility requiring the support and cooperation of all citizens.
