EFCC trains officers to strengthen prosecution capacity

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intensified efforts to enhance the competence of its legal officers through a specialized training programme aimed at improving prosecution outcomes in financial crime cases.

The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has urged officers of the Commission to demonstrate greater diligence, precision, and professionalism in charge preparation and court processes.

Olukoyede made the call on during the opening of a three-day intensive training held at the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 Conference Hall, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi.

The programme, themed on appeals, evidence gathering, and trial preparation for financial crimes, is designed to strengthen legal capacity in areas such as charge drafting, appellate processes, digital evidence handling, and trial strategy.

Representing the Chairman, the Director of Legal and Prosecution, Sylvanus Tahir (SAN), described the initiative as a strategic effort to improve institutional effectiveness and professional development within the Commission with participants drawn from multiple zonal directorates expected to apply the training to improve case quality, reduce procedural errors, and strengthen prosecution outcomes.
