The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has officially declared Timipre Sylva, the former Governor of Bayelsa State and immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, wanted.
The anti-graft agency announced the development via a public notice posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, November 10, 2025.
According to the EFCC, the 61-year-old former minister is sought in connection with an alleged case of Conspiracy and Dishonest Conversion of $14,859,257.
The funds in question were reportedly part of a capital injection made by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a new refinery.
The public notice confirms that the declaration is pursuant to a warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Lagos on November 6, 2025. Sylva hails from the Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The EFCC urged anybody with useful information regarding Sylva’s whereabouts to immediately contact any of its offices across the nation—including those in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, and others or to use the provided telephone number (08093322644) or email address (info@efcc.gov.ng). Citizens are also advised to contact the nearest Police Station or other security agencies.
