The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has strengthened grassroots efforts to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) through a sensitization and empowerment programme at Isheri-Oke Ayetoro Market.

The team, led by Mr. Damilare Adewusi on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, engaged market leaders and selected “market champions” on prevention, early warning signs, reporting channels, and support services for survivors.

Facilitators highlighted various forms of abuse and the legal implications, while equipping participants to serve as first responders within the market community.

The Iyaloja, Chief Mrs. Janet Edu, urged traders to actively participate, while the Vice Iyaloja, Chief Mrs. Musiliat Adebeshin, commended the initiative.

The programme, held in partnership with The Carter Center, also saw the distribution of advocacy materials to sustain awareness.

The initiative builds on DSVA’s ongoing grassroots engagements, including a recent sensitization of barbers and hairdressers in Alakuko, aimed at strengthening community response to SGBV across Lagos State.
