DMO debuts ₦47.3bn sovereign green bond on NGX, FMDQ

The Debt Management Office (DMO) has officially listed its 18.95% ₦47.355 Billion Series III Sovereign Green Bond on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited.

The listing, which took place on May 13, 2026, marks the third green bond issuance by the DMO on behalf of the Federal Government, reinforcing Nigeria’s drive toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy.

According to a press release, the DMO noted that the proceeds from this bond, which is due in June 2030, are specifically earmarked for financing green projects that support national environmental goals.

Beyond environmental impact, the DMO noted that the issuance aims to increase the visibility of climate-focused financial instruments within the domestic market.

The listing is expected to provide essential liquidity to investors while ensuring price transparency for the ethical security.

By offering these specialized instruments, the DMO is positioning Nigeria to attract ethical investors whose preferences align with sustainable and environmentally responsible development.

The successful issuance and listing involved high-level collaboration across the financial sector as the DMO acknowledged the contributions of transaction parties, including Issuing Houses and Bookrunners Chapel Hill Denham and Stanbic IBTC Capital Limited, alongside Legal Adviser S.P.A. Ajibade and Co..
