A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, on Sunday visited the family of late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and the Katsina State Government to offer condolences over his death.
The visit was conducted on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The delegation expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and the people of Katsina State, describing the loss as painful and significant.
At the family residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the military leadership and described the late officer as a dedicated, disciplined, and patriotic soldier who served Nigeria with honour in different capacities throughout his career.
He said Major General Abubakar served the Nigerian Army and the nation for over three decades, making valuable contributions to the country’s security structure and development. According to him, the late officer’s service record and commitment to duty would remain a source of inspiration to serving officers and future generations.
He also assured the family that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, would ensure that those responsible for the officer’s death are brought to justice. He further reaffirmed the military’s continued support to the family during the period of grief.
As part of the visit, Major General Abdullahi presented a Nigerian national flag to the family in recognition of the late officer’s service and sacrifice to the nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, expressed appreciation to the Defence Headquarters and the Armed Forces for their visit and support. He noted that the gesture demonstrated solidarity and compassion during a difficult time for the family and the community.
The delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, who represented Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
The Deputy Governor described the late Major General Abubakar as a committed officer whose death was a loss not only to Katsina State but to the entire nation. He added that his legacy of service and patriotism would continue to be remembered.
