The Delta State Government has secured a $500,000 financial disbursement under the World Bank-supported HOPE Governance Programme after meeting key healthcare governance and reform benchmarks.
The development was disclosed in an official statement issued by the state government on Friday, following an announcement made in Abuja during a strategic planning retreat.
According to the state government, the international funding release followed the successful verification of the state’s administrative and health sector compliance milestones by independent global assessors.
The award was announced by the National Coordinator of the HOPE Governance Programme, Dr. Assad Hassan, during a retreat for commissioners, permanent secretaries, and directors of budget and planning.
It followed the state’s successful attainment of the Year Zero Disbursement-Linked Indicators (DLIs), as verified by the Interim Independent Verification Agent (IVA).
State officials confirmed that the newly acquired capital injection will be deployed directly into upgrading the sub-national clinical ecosystem and expanding care to vulnerable communities.
The funding will support ongoing health sector reforms, strengthen service delivery, and improve access to quality healthcare for Deltans, in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
With this development, Delta State has successfully joined the ranks of sub-national governments leveraging international performance-based partnerships to drive domestic growth and boost human capital development.
