Dele Momodu quits PDP, cites hijack by anti-democratic forces, joins ADC coalition

Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant Dele Momodu has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing the party of being overtaken by anti-democratic forces and internal decay.

In a scathing resignation letter, Momodu said his decision to leave was “simple and straightforward,” adding that the PDP had been “unarguably hijacked by anti-democratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.”

Declaring the party a shadow of its former self, Momodu described his exit as an “honourable” move to distance himself from what he termed “the carcass of the party.”

The media mogul announced that he and others have now aligned with a new political movement under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) a coalition party he described as a more viable platform for democratic engagement.

Momodu’s defection highlights the growing unrest within the PDP, which has in recent months faced a wave of internal crises, leadership tussles, and high-profile defections.

He rounded off his letter by expressing gratitude to his local party leaders for their unwavering support, saying, “I will forever treasure the kind support you gave me at all times.”
