The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly commenced an emergency at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The closed-door session, which began on Tuesday, is taking place amid a wave of defections and mounting internal crises within the opposition party.
The PDP has been bedeviled by mass defection of its members to the ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC).
The latest was the collapse of the Delta PDP structure into the APC, a move led by Sheriff Oborevwori, governor of the state.
Oborevwori was joined by former vice-presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, along with members of the National and State Assemblies, commissioners, and local government chairmen.
The PDP NWC is expected to set up a caretaker committee to handle the affairs of the party in the state for the time being.
