An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded one Olayiwola Mojeed at the Ilesa Correctional Centre over the alleged theft of N440,000 belonging to a tenant in his father’s rented apartment.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oyindamola Daramola, ordered the defendant’s remand in custody, citing the magnitude of the alleged offence.
The prosecutor, ASP Jacob Akintunde, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 23 at the Powerline area of Osogbo.
Akintunde alleged that Mojeed unlawfully entered the apartment of his father’s tenant, Miss Owolabi Folashade, and stole the sum of N440,000 belonging to her.
He added that the offences contravene Sections 411, 390 and 249 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
The defendant, who had no legal representation, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of theft, unlawful entry and breach of peace.
The case was adjourned until June 30 for hearing.
