A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has remanded Ayodele Babatola, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Ado Ekiti Constituency 1 House of Assembly seat, in prison custody.

Babatola was arraigned by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly raping a woman whose identity was withheld.

The presiding magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, ordered Babatola’s remand in prison custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Magistrate Adeosun adjourned the case until June 26, 2026. Meanwhile, the defense counsel, Owoseni Ajayi, has vowed to secure bail for his client at the High Court.
