Residents of Akwakuma community in Owerri, Imo State, have celebrated a remarkable humanitarian initiative that has introduced digital learning opportunities to local school children.
Through a public fundraising campaign led by Christabelle Chiamaka Ogbonna, a fully equipped computer laboratory was successfully established at Akwakuma Community Primary School.
The project attracted support from individuals and well-wishers who contributed funds to ensure that the school could acquire computers and establish a digital learning facility for pupils.
For many students in the school, this marks their first opportunity to interact with computers as part of their learning environment. Community leaders noted that the initiative will significantly improve the quality of education while helping pupils develop important digital skills for the future.
To recognize the success of the initiative and its impact on the community, the Akwakuma Community Association presented Ms. Ogbonna with an award for humanitarian service and educational development.
The award was presented by the community chairman, Chief Osuji, who described the project as “a meaningful investment in the future of our children.”
Community members expressed deep appreciation for Ms. Ogbonna’s dedication, noting that the computer laboratory will help bridge the digital divide and inspire young students to pursue opportunities in technology, science, and innovation.
