The Citizens Support for Good Governance (CSGG) has strongly condemned a viral video targeting Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), labeling it a coordinated propaganda campaign designed to undermine national security leadership.

‎In a statement released on Tuesday, March 10, the group described the video, which criticizes the Minister’s performance in tackling insecurity, as the work of conflict entrepreneurs seeking to weaken public confidence in the Armed Forces.

The CSGG clarified that General Musa’s role is primarily strategic and supervisory, while operational deployment remains the constitutional prerogative of the President as Commander-in-Chief.

‎Victor Mathew Bobai, the Convener of the Tinubu–Uba Leadership Network and a signatory to the statement, argued that blaming the Defence Minister for operational outcomes outside his direct mandate is misleading.

He emphasized that the General has been instrumental in improving military coordination and intensifying operations against criminal networks since assuming office in December 2025.

‎”General Musa remains part of the solution to Nigeria’s security challenges,” Bobai stated. “Improved military coordination and intensified operations have unsettled individuals who benefited from prolonged insecurity.”

‎The CSGG highlighted recent reforms under General Musa’s leadership, including enhanced welfare packages and morale-boosting initiatives for personnel.

The group also suggested that while the current strategy is yielding results, there may be a need for further legislative adjustments to ensure even faster institutional responses to emerging threats.

‎The statement, which was also signed by regional coordinators Olayinka Adeosun Olumide (Southwest), Danbaba Hamisu Malunfashi (Northwest), and George Donald Jackson (Southeast), urged the media and political actors to avoid sensationalizing security issues.

The organization reaffirmed its confidence in the Minister and warned conflict merchants to desist from sponsoring attacks that could demoralize troops and jeopardize national unity.
