The Church of God Mission has suspended the head of its branch in Trans Ekulu , Enugu state over what it called the pastor’s inability to tame one of his son’s abhorrible lifestyle.
The man at the centre of the storm…Rev C . C Udeh has been one of the prominent leaders of the church, known for his dedication to duty.
However, things turned soar for him when reports emerged that his son, Mr Nonso Udeh was bisexual.
Udeh told our correspondent that at first it was difficult for him to believe the rumour but that the church leadership confronted him with evidence.
He further lamented that he was unfairly dismissed from the church after his years of meritorious service.
“In as much as I don’t support the abominable life of my son, I don’t think it was right to suspend me based on that.
“It was hard for me to believe but the church authority showed me overwhelming evidence that indeed shows my son is bisexual. It is an abomination, but I should not be punished for his offence.
“He is above 18 years of age and decides how he lives his life; that should not be a parameter to judge my performance in the ministry.
“Now I have been stripped of my position; all my entitlements denied; where do I go from here?” He lamented.
He decried a situation where he had to be chased out of the church’s residential quarters without adequate notice, lamenting that, “I built that church residential house through the support of my friends, not just the church members.
“But I have been made to face this humiliation simply because of my son’s lifestyle.”
Meanwhile, it was equally gathered that Mr Nonso’s wife, who could not stand the shame of the husband’s sexual orientation, has also quit the marriage.
It was reported that she packed all her belongings and returned to father’s house in a nearby town, vowing never to have anything to do again with the bisexual husband.
However, upon discovery that she was pregnant for the husband, she returned to her husband’s house, where sources said she faced stigmatization and rejection by family members and friends.
“Even the wife’s parents were not happy with her decision to return to the husband but she took the decision having discovered that she is pregnant.
“But it has been a period of embarrassment, humiliation and shame from the entire village and church members,” a family source further disclosed. February 2017
