The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings scheduled to begin on Monday, October 13, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
This was stated in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
Cardoso, who serves as Nigeria’s Alternate Governor at the Bretton Woods institutions, will represent the country in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.
The Nigerian delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, among other senior government officials.
According to the World Bank, key events at this year’s Annual Meetings include the Development Committee Plenary Session on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) Meeting on October 17.
Other highlights of the week-long event will feature regional briefings, high-level fora, and press conferences focusing on issues such as global economic outlook, international development, and financial market stability.
The Annual Meetings serve as a global platform for finance ministers, central bank governors, private sector leaders, and development experts to discuss strategies for sustaining economic growth, reducing poverty, and strengthening international financial cooperation.
