Benefits of foreign scholarships will manifest in 10 to 20 years — Radda

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has stated that the state government’s heavy financial commitment to sponsoring medical students abroad is a long-term strategic investment whose full transformation will take between ten to twenty years to fully manifest.

Governor Radda made the remarks during a presentation at the Government House in Katsina, where Alhassan Nasir, an MBBS student sponsored by the state at Nahda University in Egypt, showcased an innovative health solution titled “Diabetes Coach AI,” designed to assist individuals managing diabetes.

Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, the Governor explained that human capital development requires patience and foresight, adding that the administration is focused on sustainable development rather than immediate political gratification.

“We have made a huge investment in sponsoring these students to study MBBS in Egypt. Katsina may not fully see the impact of that investment now. It may take 10 or even 20 years before we see the full results, but we are building the future of the state,” Governor Radda declared.

The Governor emphasized that the administration’s foreign educational sponsorships and broader educational initiatives, including the state’s newly established smart schools, are strictly strictly merit-driven to empower gifted children from less-privileged backgrounds.

He noted that Nasir secured the scholarship without personal connections, embodying the core objective of transparent governance.

Governor Radda reaffirmed that the state would continue to prioritize investments in education, healthcare, and technical skills to lay a solid foundation for future generations and build a self-sustaining Katsina State.
